Climber:
Just as I emerged into the clearing, I noticed this marvelous Drosera macrantha
climbing a tree. This plant is about 150 cm tall! Like other scrambling sundews, Drosera macrantha
is hard to photograph without including distracting elements in the image, so I took advantage of this opportunity.
The site consisted of a large open hillside. The bordering Allocasuarina trees
had not invaded this area, apparently because the soil was but a thin blanket over large
granite slabs. In many places the slabs were entirely exposed, other times they were covered with an apron of moss. But throughout, moisture
percolated down the slope. This was fine carnivorous plant habitat!
