Food!
They are some kind of small
dragonfly. Anyone care to tell me what they are? These blue beasts are
great food for sundews in the Lassen area. At some times during the year
they seem to be a primary
food for sundews--or at least they are the most noticeable prey items
that the plants capture.
After enjoying these plants, we returned the canoe and walked around the
lake with one of the camp naturalists. We saw a few more
Drosera rotundifolia, and even a bit of Utricularia macrorhiza.
There were also some excellent birds, such as mountain chickadee,
white-headed woodpeckers, brown creepers, and red-breasted nuthatch.
Then, off to our next site!
